Further green building certificate for S IMMO property

Sun Offices in Bucharest, a building owned by the Austrian company S IMMO AG, has been awarded with a green building certificate from BREEAM, adding yet another property with an internationally recognised certification to the Company’s portfolio. “We place a great deal of emphasis on ensuring that sustainability aspects are taken into account as early as the planning phase of our development projects. A certification confirms the high quality of a property we aim to achieve with regard to ecological, economic and social standards,” said Management Board Member Friedrich Wachernig.

The BRE Environmental Assessment Method (BREEAM) is the leading and most widely used voluntary certification method for properties. It covers a wide range of environmental and sustainability aspects. The method’s high standards ensure optimal, sustainable design and serve as a measure of a building’s environmental impact.

Sun Offices offer over 9,000 m² of office space on three levels. During the BREEAM certification process, the building distinguished itself with its unparalleled public transportation connections. Along with numerous bus and tram connections in the immediate vicinity, the building offers a direct tunnel connection to the metro. In addition, the building has a class A energy efficiency rating while still offering an extremely high level of comfort for its tenants. Thanks to the location above the Sun Plaza shopping centre, the tenants benefit from access to numerous shops as well as entertainment and recreational facilities.

The fact that green buildings are fairly rare in Romania at the moment and represent a unique feature is demonstrated by the low number of certified buildings in the country: Besides Sun Offices, only six buildings have full BREEAM certification in Romania, and four more are pre-certified.
