10th anniversary of Art Supermarket

S IMMO supports Viennese platform for contemporary art again in its anniversary year

 On 20 October 2016, the Vienna Art Supermarket will open its doors again at Mariahilfer Straße 103, a building belonging to S IMMO AG. Over 6,000 original artworks by 90 artists from 18 countries will be on sale here for affordable prices until 21 January 2017.

As part of its CSR activities, S IMMO AG provides the premises for the Art Supermarket on the ground floor of one of its properties. Friedrich Wachernig, member of the Management Board of S IMMO AG, comments: “We have been involved in selected social and cultural projects for many years. As the Art Supermarket celebrates its 10th anniversary, we wish to express our warmest congratulations and are already looking forward to successfully continuing this highly effective idea of bringing art and artists together with interested members of the public.”

Positive results after first decade

Over the past 10 years, the Art Supermarket has evolved into one of the biggest events for contemporary art. More than 250,000 people visited the Vienna Art Supermarket in the first nine years. Over 30,000 original works have been sold since 2006. In addition to several well-known artists, this year’s exhibitors will also include a number of interesting newcomers. For the first time in its history, the Art Supermarket will host an entire art project in the form of the ‘Vienna Art Box’. The exhibition will be opened by Vice-Chancellor Reinhold Mitterlehner today at the preview with guests from the worlds of business and art.
